È lo stesso identico problema descritto in this SO question e in Super user question, ma la soluzione proposta per entrambi - set encoding=utf-8

che in una sessione in esecuzione e nessuno ha funzionato.

Ho fatto l'esperienza, che i file da altre fonti (come Windows) possono causare problemi per Vim, nonostante il fatto che la codifica sia impostata. perché vim cerca di scrivere nella codifica utf-8 in un file che in origine è latino-1. se questo è il fatto, prova a convertire il file con 'iconv -f latin-1 -t utf-8' – syss
