Il problema è che stai provando ad eseguirlo come un file di script quando si tratta di una config che dovrebbe trovarsi nella radice della tua home directory, tmux cercherà un file con quel nome in quella posizione quando creerai una nuova sessione.

Se si dispone di una sessione tmux si apre è possibile ricaricare una configurazione digitando

Prefix+B : 

Quindi digitare:

source-file ~/.tmux.conf
