Per prima cosa è necessario essere assolutamente certi che l'hardware, in particolare la memoria, sia in ordine. Esegui memcheck per scoprirlo (il modo più semplice può essere quello di avviarsi su un supporto di installazione di Ubuntu e selezionarlo dal menu di avvio).

L'incidente è nel compilatore JIT JVM. Potresti provare a disattivare il compilatore per vedere se aiuta a diagnosticare il problema. Utilizzare l'opzione -Xint.
