Si può fare qualcosa di simile con le stringhe?

Vimscript consente la continuazione della riga precedente avviando il successivo con una barra rovesciata, ma non è così conveniente come una stringa heredoc come quella che si troverà in Ruby, PHP o Bash.

let g:myLongString='A string 
\ that has a lot of lines 
\ each beginning with a 
\ backslash to continue the previous one 
     \ and whitespace before the backslash 
     \ is ignored'
